Rajesh Krishnan at Crazy Brahma: A Kannada Voice on a Kalaluha Stage

On 30 May 2026, JK Grand Arena in Kengeri hosted Crazy Brahma, a tribute night built around two names that shaped Kannada cinema: Crazy Star V. Ravichandran and Naada Brahma Hamsalekha. Among the five voices chosen to carry that songbook was Rajesh Krishnan, and if you know Kannada film music, you know why his name belonged on that poster.

Three thousand songs and counting

Rajesh Krishnan has recorded more than 3,000 Kannada songs and won the Karnataka State Award three times. Numbers like that are easy to skim past, so consider what they actually mean. A catalogue that size means his voice has been part of the Kannada listener's daily life for decades, across moods, across eras, across generations of composers. A three-time state awardee is not a singer who got lucky with one hit. It is a singer whose peers and whose state have repeatedly said: this is the standard.

The night itself

Crazy Brahma marked 51 years of Eshwari Combines, 65 years of V. Ravichandran and more than four decades of the Ravichandran and Hamsalekha collaboration. Ravichandran has been the Crazy Star since Premaloka in 1987, with films like Ramachari and Ranadheera in his legacy. Hamsalekha stands behind 500 plus albums, a National Film Award, six Filmfare Best Music Director honours and an honorary doctorate from Bangalore University.

Rajesh Krishnan shared the stage with a lineup worthy of that history: Vijay Yesudas, Mano, Anuradha Bhat and Madhu Balakrishnan, with Anushree anchoring the evening. The theme line, Where Music Meets Magic, set the tone. Kannada dailies including Vishwavani, Udayavani and Kannada Prabha covered the night, alongside Asianet, TV9 and Eesanje. The show was presented by Prastut Innovation Creation & Solutions in association with Kalaluha.
