Kannada DJ Night at Fandom: A Recap of Kalaluha's Club Property

For years, a night out at a Bengaluru club meant dancing to everyone else's music. Bollywood, EDM, international pop: all of it welcome, none of it ours. Kannada DJ Night exists to fix that. The 7 December edition at Fandom at Gilly's Redefined in Koramangala put Kannada music where it belongs on a Saturday night: on a proper club system, at proper club volume, for a floor full of people who knew every word.

The night itself

Three names carried the decks: DJ Lethal A, DJ Nuthan and DJ Harry D Cruzz. Each brought a different read on what Kannada club music can be, moving between film hits, remixes and the kind of drops that only land when the crowd already owns the songs. That is the particular magic of this property. A DJ playing an international hit gets a dancing crowd. A DJ playing a beloved Kannada track gets a singing one. The room at Fandom did both at once, all night.

Koramangala was the right postcode for it. Fandom at Gilly's Redefined is a room built for exactly this kind of energy, and the format has found a home there as a running Kalaluha club property rather than a one-off experiment.

Where this night came from

Kannada DJ Night did not appear fully formed. The lineage goes back to February 2022, when the first Kannada DJ party ran with NKM, Namma Karnataka Memes, in what Explocity described as an event "in association with Chethana production." By September 2023 the property had a joint billing on Insider.in as NKM and Kalaluha presenting Kannada DJ Night. From that seed, eight premium Kannada DJ properties have been built. The 7 December edition at Fandom is the current expression of an idea that has been sharpened over years: Kannada nightlife deserves its own stage, not a guest slot.

That history matters because it shows this was never a novelty booking. It is a deliberate, repeatable format with its own audience, its own resident energy and its own standards, produced by the same company that has staged Shreya Ghoshal, Kailash Kher and Sid Sriram for far larger rooms.

Why it matters

Kalaluha's name is a statement of intent: Kala meaning art, Luha meaning blazing fire, with a mission to bring India's art forms, music and stories onto bigger stages. A club floor might seem like a small stage next to a concert ground, but culturally it is one of the most important ones. Nightlife is where a city's musical identity either shows up or goes missing. Every edition of Kannada DJ Night is an argument, made at high volume, that Kannada music belongs in that room.

It is also where the next generation of the scene gets built. DJs who learn to move a floor with Kannada music, crowds who learn to expect it, venues who learn it sells out: each edition compounds the last. Eight properties on, the argument is no longer theoretical.
