Crazy Brahma: Working With Prastut on a Tribute for the Ages

Some shows are booked. Others are owed. Crazy Brahma, set for 30 May 2026 at JK Grand Arena, Kengeri, belongs to the second kind: a tribute to Crazy Star V. Ravichandran and Naada Brahma Hamsalekha, presented by Prastut Innovation Creation & Solutions in association with Kalaluha. The numbers behind the night explain why it had to happen: 51 years of Eshwari Combines, 65 years of Ravichandran, and more than four decades of a director-composer partnership that shaped Kannada cinema's sound and look.

Two legends, one stage

Ravichandran has been the Crazy Star since Premaloka in 1987, an actor, director and producer whose films like Ramachari and Ranadheera are part of Karnataka's shared memory. Hamsalekha, the Naada Brahma, has composed more than 500 albums, won a National Film Award and six Filmfare Best Music Director honours, and holds an honorary doctorate from Bangalore University. Putting their combined body of work into a single evening is not a playlist exercise. It is an editing problem, a staging problem and an emotional problem, and the theme line the show carries, Where Music Meets Magic, sets the standard the production has to meet.

What the partnership with Prastut looks like

When Prastut came in as presenter with Kalaluha alongside, the division of intent was clear: honour the legacy properly, and produce it at a scale the legacy deserves. The voices confirmed for the night show how seriously the lineup was curated. Vijay Yesudas brings three Kerala State Film Awards and the lineage of K.J. Yesudas. Rajesh Krishnan has sung more than 3,000 Kannada songs with three Karnataka State Awards. Mano has over 30,000 recorded songs across languages and was named by Ilaiyaraaja himself. Anuradha Bhat carries 5,000+ songs in sixteen languages, and Madhu Balakrishnan brings more than 10,000 recordings with Kerala and Tamil Nadu State Awards. Anchoring it all is Anushree, one of Kannada television's leading hosts, with Bengaluru singer Elz Cherry as the opening act.

Why the press took notice early

A tribute of this scale becomes news before a single note is played. Crazy Brahma has already been covered by Kannada dailies and channels including Vishwavani, Udayavani, Kannada Prabha, Asianet, TV9 and Eesanje. That attention is welcome, and it is also pressure: when the announcement travels this far, the arena show has to land. This is where Kalaluha's large format production practice earns its place in the partnership, covering stage and set engineering, LED walls and broadcast, power, crew and site logistics, and safety, permissions and clearances, so that Prastut's vision for the tribute has a spine strong enough to hold it.
