Siblings as Co-Founders: How Vishal R S and Dr. Chethana R S Built Kalaluha

Kalaluha is a Bengaluru live-event and concert production company founded in 2023. Two siblings built it. Dr. Chethana R S is the Founder: a practicing Ayurvedic physician, an artist and a producer. Vishal R S is Co-Founder and Head of Strategy. He leads strategy, finance and operations. This is how the partnership works, and why it works.

Two different heads

Dr. Chethana R S brings the artist's side of the company. She is a physician by training and a producer by practice. Vishal R S brings the numbers. He is an IIT Roorkee alumnus who started his professional life before turning eighteen. He runs a money-management platform with over Rs 30 crore under management and advises companies as a virtual CFO. He also holds a Trinity College London Grade 8 in music theory, so the music is not foreign territory to him.

A production company needs both heads. Someone has to hold the creative ambition of a night. Someone has to hold the budget, the contracts and the risk. Splitting those jobs between two people who trust each other completely removes a layer of friction that slows most young companies down.

Where it began

Kalaluha did not start with an arena. It started with a club property. Kannada DJ Night ran its first edition in February 2022 with NKM. The property proved one simple thing: Bengaluru had an audience that wanted Kannada music treated as a premium night out. The company was formally founded in 2023 and built outward from that proof.

Keeping the roles clean

Family businesses struggle when roles blur. Kalaluha keeps them separate. Vishal's brief is strategy, finance and operations. Every project passes through his three questions. Can this be sharper? Can this mean more? Can this outlive a single night? If a project fails those tests, it does not go ahead, whoever proposed it.

Being siblings helps in one specific way. Hard conversations happen early. A co-founder you have known your whole life cannot bluff you, and you cannot bluff them. Decisions get argued in private and executed in public as one voice. That speed matters in live events, where a venue, an artist window and a ticket on-sale date rarely wait for a committee.

What the partnership has produced

Since the 2023 founding, the record reads plainly:

  • Close to thirty productions
  • More than 3.5 lakh tickets sold
  • Over Rs 20 crore in combined ticketing and brand-partnership value

The slate runs from the sold-out Shreya Ghoshal All Hearts Tour night in May 2024, produced with Superhits 93.5 RED FM under RED LIVE, to owned properties like the Appu Cup, celebrity cricket played in memory of Puneeth Rajkumar. The next stage is original IP built to run for years, starting with Music from the Valley, a ten-city premium live experience rooted in Kashmir featuring santoor maestro Pandit Rahul Sharma.

Two siblings. One company. And a line they have kept from the first club night onward: every unforgettable night begins with an empty stage.
